Timing Cover: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the oil pan.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.





4. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
5. Disconnect the heater water hose.





6. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP sensor).
7. Disconnect the Generator (GEN).
8. Remove the drive belt tensioner.





9. Remove the bolts and the generator mounting bracket.





10. Remove the A/C bracket-to-water pump brace.





11. Remove the two nuts and the wire harness retainer.





12. Remove the nuts and bolts.





13. Remove the engine front cover.





14. Remove the engine front cover gasket.

Installation





1. Clean all the sealing surfaces.





2. Install the engine front cover gasket.





3. Install the engine front cover.





4. NOTE: Use a straight edge to align the engine front cover and the cylinder block at the oil pan mating surface.

Install the bolts.





5. Install the two nuts and the wire harness retainer.





6. Install the A/C bracket-to-water pump brace.





7. Install the bolts and the generator mounting bracket.





8. Install the generator bracket.
9. Connect the generator.





10. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the crankshaft position sensor.
11. Connect the heater water hose.





12. Connect the lower radiator hose.
13. Install the crankshaft pulley.
14. Install the oil pan.
15. Connect the battery ground cable.
