P: C1277 and C1278 - Steering Wheel Angle 1 and 2 Circuit Failure/Faulted

PINPOINT TEST P: DTCs C1277 AND C1278 - STEERING WHEEL ANGLE 1 AND 2 CIRCUIT FAILURE/FAULTED

Normal Operation
The steering wheel rotation sensor monitors the steering wheel position when the toothed-wheel on the steering shaft passes through its magnetic field.

Steering wheel rotation (in degrees) is sent to the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module through circuit 1572 (DG) and circuit 1573 (YE). Voltage is supplied through circuit 640 (RD/YE). Ground is provided by the ABS module through circuit 1571 (BK).

Possible Causes
^ Circuit 640 (RD/YE) open, short to ground
^ Circuit 1572 (DG) open, short to ground
^ Circuit 1573 (YE) open, short to ground
^ Circuit 1571 (BK) open, short to ground
^ Steering wheel rotation sensor
