PINPOINT TEST C: THE COMPASS IS INOPERATIVE

Normal Operation
The compass sensor module receives voltage from the smart junction box (SJB) through circuit CBP31 (BU/OG) and is grounded through circuit GD133 (BK). The compass sensor module communicates the vehicle direction to the instrument cluster through the compass communication data plus circuit VMC31 (YE/GN) and compass communication data minus circuit VMC30 (BU/GY).

DTC B2097 - sets in continuous memory if the instrument cluster detects invalid data sent from the compass module.

DTC U2013 - is a continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster is missing the compass data from the compass module. If the instrument cluster fails to receive the compass data, the instrument cluster sets DTC U2013 and defaults the compass display to (----).

Possible Causes
- Fuse
- Circuit CBP31 (BU/OG) open
- Circuit GD133 (BK) open
- Circuit VMC30 (BU/GY) open or short to ground
- Circuit VMC31 (YE/GN) open or short to ground
- Compass sensor module
