Normal Operation
The instrument cluster receives the 4x4, 4x4 LOW and 4x4 AUTO reconfigurable telltale indicator status from the four wheel drive (4WD) control module over the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) communication bus. If the instrument cluster receives a message that the 4WD system in the process of shifting from two wheel drive (2WD) to either 4WD high or 4WD low, the message center displays the message 4x4 SHIFT IN PROGRESS and the appropriate 4x4, 4x4 LOW or 4x4 AUTO reconfigurable telltale indicator is turned off. If the instrument cluster receives a message that the 4WD system in not in the process of completing a 4WD shift or the shift event has ended, the message center cancels the displayed message and the 4x4, 4x4 LOW or 4x4 AUTO reconfigurable telltale indicator is turned on. If the 4x4 status message is missing for greater than 5 seconds, the instrument cluster sets DTC U0102 and defaults the 4x4 AUTO reconfigurable telltale indicator off.
