Test G: An Individual Button/Feature Is Inoperative From The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter
PINPOINT TEST G: AN INDIVIDUAL BUTTON/FEATURE IS INOPERATIVE FROM THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTERNormal Operation
Remote locking and unlocking of the doors, and activating the panic alarm is accomplished by the vehicle security module (VSM) receiving a command message from the RKE transmitter through the tire pressure monitoring system/remote keyless entry (TPMS/RKE) internal antenna. The VSM processes the command and provides the appropriate output.
The VSM will disable the PANIC feature if the ignition key is in any position other than OFF or LOCK.
The VSM will disable the horn chirp and park lamp flash when the lock button is pressed and the ignition key is in any position other than OFF or LOCK.
- DTC B1217 (Horn Relay Coil Circuit Failure) - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the VSM detects an open or short to ground on the horn relay coil circuit 1 (DB).
- DTC B1218 (Horn Relay Coil Circuit Short to Vbatt) - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the VSM detects a short to voltage on the horn relay coil circuit 1 (DB).
- DTC B2251 (Parklamp Output Relay Driver Circuit Failure) - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the VSM detects an open on circuit 195 (TN/WH), a short to ground on the park lamp circuit 14 (BN) or if the CJB fuse 10 (20A) has failed or is removed.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Door locks
- Horn system
- Park lamps
- RKE transmitter
