PINPOINT TEST E: DTC C1742 - REAR SOUNDER CIRCUIT FAILURE AND C1743 - REAR SOUNDER CIRCUIT SHORT TO VBATTNormal Operation
The system can be disabled by the parking aid switch. A 750 Hz variable warning tone is generated from a parking aid speaker. The parking aid speaker increases the warning tone rate as the vehicle gets closer to an obstacle.
- DTC C1742 (Sounder Circuit Failure) - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the parking aid module (PAM) senses a short to ground or an open on the rear sounder positive circuit 1437 (BK/PK), or rear sounder negative circuit 1438 (DG) when the speaker is off.
- DTC C1743 (Sounder Circuit Short to Battery) - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the PAM senses a short to voltage on the rear sounder negative circuit 1438 (DG) when the PAM is sending a signal to turn on the speaker.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- PAM
- Parking aid speaker
