Test F: The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Is Inoperative
PINPOINT TEST F: THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER IS INOPERATIVENormal Operation
Remote locking and unlocking of the doors and activation of the panic alarm is accomplished by the vehicle security module (VSM) receiving a command message from the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter through the VSM internal antenna. The VSM processes the command and energizes the appropriate lock or unlock relays, horn, or parking lamps. The RKE transmitter has a maximum operating range of 10 m (33 ft).
- DTC B2425 (Remote Keyless Entry Out of Synchronization) - is a continuous DTC that sets when the VSM detects the rolling counter received from an RKE transmitter is 1,024 or more times greater than the rolling counter stored in the module.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- RKE transmitter
- RKE transmitter battery
- RKE transmitter button pressed a substantial amount of times while outside the range of the vehicle
- RKE transmitter programming
- VSM
