Throttle Body Spacer: Service and Repair

Throttle Body - Spacer, 5.4L









Removal

1. Remove the engine cover.

2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly and ACL outlet tube.

3. NOTE: The red clip must be pulled out before disconnecting the electrical connector.

Disconnect the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) electrical connector and wiring harness retainer.

4. NOTE: The red clip must be pulled out before disconnecting the electrical connector.

Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

5. Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) purge valve tube quick connect coupling.

6. Disconnect the brake booster and intake manifold vacuum connectors.

7. Remove the 4 bolts and the Throttle Body (TB) and TB spacer as an assembly.
- Discard the TB spacer gasket.

Installation

1. Install a new TB spacer gasket, position the TB and TB spacer assembly and tighten the 4 bolts in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

2. Connect the brake booster and intake manifold vacuum connectors.

3. Connect the EVAP purge valve tube quick connect coupling.

4. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
- Push back the red clip.

5. Connect the ETC electrical connector.
- Push back the red clip.

6. Install the ACL assembly and ACL outlet tube.

7. Install the engine cover.
