Generator - Single Generator




Generator - Diesel Engines, Single Generator

NOTE: This procedure also applies to the primary generator of the dual generator system.











Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect the dual batteries. For additional information, refer to Battery.

2. Remove the bolt and position the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor aside.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

3. Remove the bolt and position the ground strap aside.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

4. Remove the 2 bolts and position the power steering fluid reservoir bracket aside.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

5. Remove the 3 bolts and position the cowl wiring harness aside.
- To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).

6. Remove the 3 bracket screws from the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) tube bracket.
- To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).

7. Remove the 2 stud nuts and the CAC tube bracket.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

8. Loosen the 2 clamps and remove the CAC tube.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).

9. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise and position the accessory drive belt aside.

10. Remove the nut from the generator stud bolt and position the transmission level indicator tube bracket aside.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

11. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.

12. Position the generator B+ protective cover aside, remove the B+ terminal nut and position the B+ terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

13. Remove the 3 bolts, the ground strap and the generator.
- To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).

14. If necessary, remove the protective cap, the nut and the radial adapter.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

15. NOTE: Make sure to install the engine-to-body ground strap under the front generator stud bolt.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
