Pinpoint Test Q: The Fog Lamps On Indicator Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 86, Fog Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

When the fog lamp switch is engaged, voltage is provided to the fog lamps on indicator within the headlamp switch. A separate ground circuit is provided to the headlamp switch for the fog lamps on indicator.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Headlamp switch



PINPOINT TEST Q: THE FOG LAMPS ON INDICATOR IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

Q1 CHECK THE FOG LAMPS ON INDICATOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN


NOTE: Make sure the fog lamps operate correctly before continuing diagnosis of the fog lamps on indicator.

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205.
- Measure the voltage between the headlamp switch C205-10, circuit SBP23 (WH/RD), harness side and the headlamp switch C205-7, circuit GD116 (BK/YE), harness side.




- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to Headlamp Switch Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR circuit GD116 (BK/YE) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
