Throttle Body Spacer: Service and Repair




Throttle Body - Spacer









Removal

1. Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation Service and Repair.

2. If a new Throttle Body (TB) spacer is being installed, remove the TB. For additional information, refer to Throttle Body Service and Repair.

3. If necessary, remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly and ACL outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering Intake Air System Components - Exploded View.

4. NOTE: The red clip must be pulled out before disconnecting the electrical connector.

If necessary, disconnect the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) electrical connector and wiring harness retainer.

5. NOTE: The red clip must be pulled out before disconnecting the electrical connector.

If necessary, disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

6. Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) purge valve tube quick connect coupling.

7. Disconnect the brake booster and intake manifold vacuum connectors.

8. Remove the 4 bolts and the TB and TB spacer as an assembly.
- Discard the TB spacer gasket.

Installation

1. Install a new TB spacer gasket, position the TB and TB spacer assembly and tighten the 4 bolts in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

2. Connect the brake booster and intake manifold vacuum connectors.

3. Connect the EVAP purge valve tube quick connect coupling.

4. If a new TB spacer is being installed, install the TB. For additional information, refer to Throttle Body Service and Repair.

5. If necessary, connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
- Push back the red clip.

6. If necessary, connect the ETC electrical connector.
- Push back the red clip.

7. If necessary, install the ACL assembly and ACL outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering Intake Air System Components - Exploded View.

8. Install the engine cover. For additional information, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation Service and Repair.
