Pinpoint Test AK: The REGEN BRAKING DISABLED Message Is Inoperative/Always On (Hybrid)

Normal Operation

The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the regenerative brake disabled status from the PCM over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. If the regenerative braking system is disabled, the PCM sends a command to the IC (Instrument Cluster) to display the regenerative braking disabled message.

If the regenerative braking message is missing, the IC (Instrument Cluster) sets DTC U0100 in continuous memory and the regenerative braking disabled message remains in the last indication mode (on or off). If the regenerative braking message is deemed invalid by the IC (Instrument Cluster), the IC (Instrument Cluster) defaults the regenerative braking disabled message off.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- PCM

- IC (Instrument Cluster)

PINPOINT TEST AK : THE REGEN BRAKING DISABLED MESSAGE IS INOPERATIVE/ALWAYS ON (HYBRID)

AK1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded PCM DTCs from the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.

Are any PCM DTCs recorded?

Yes
REFER to Computers and Control Systems Information.

No
GO to AK2.

AK2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC (Instrument Cluster) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded IC (Instrument Cluster) DTCs from the self-test.

Are any IC (Instrument Cluster) DTCs recorded?

Yes
For DTC U0100, GO to Pinpoint Test AV Pinpoint Test AV: DTC U0100.

For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Charts Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes.

No
INSTALL a new IC (Instrument Cluster). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
