Pinpoint Test B: DTC U2510

Anti-Theft

Pinpoint Test B: DTC U2510

Normal Operation

The Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) transceiver communicates with the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key. The control functions are contained in the Instrument Cluster (IC). The IC (Instrument Cluster) carries out all of the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) functions such as receiving the identification code from the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key and controlling the engine and transmission enable. The IC (Instrument Cluster) initiates the key interrogation sequence when the key is turned to the ON or START position.

- DTC U2510 (CAN (Controller Area Network) - Invalid Data For Vehicle Security)- sets when the IC (Instrument Cluster) and Transmission Control Module (TCM) IDs do not match or have not been sent.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- IC (Instrument Cluster) calibration (parameters)

- TCM (Transmission Control Module) calibration (parameters)

- IC (Instrument Cluster)

- TCM (Transmission Control Module)

PINPOINT TEST B : DTC U2510

NOTE: When using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS), the IC (Instrument Cluster) and the TCM (Transmission Control Module) parameters are reset at the same time.

B1 RESET THE PARAMETERS IN THE TCM (Transmission Control Module) AND THE IC (Instrument Cluster)

- Connect the scan tool.

- Carry out the parameter reset procedure. Refer to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset .

- Ignition ON.

- Retrieve the DTCs.

Is DTC U2510 retrieved?

Yes
VERIFY the TCM (Transmission Control Module) calibration is correct for the vehicle by matching the calibration number on On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) with the As-Built data. If correct, INSTALL a new IC (Instrument Cluster). REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators. CARRY OUT the parameter reset procedure on both modules. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset . PROGRAM the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) keys into the IC (Instrument Cluster). REFER to Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment . CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. If DTC U2510 is still present, INSTALL a new TCM (Transmission Control Module). CARRY OUT the parameter reset procedure on both modules, REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is OK. CHECK for any other DTCs. If any other PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) -related DTCs are present, REFER to DTC Charts Antitheft and Alarm Systems.
