Pinpoint Test C: DTC B2141
Anti-Theft
Pinpoint Test C: DTC B2141
Normal Operation
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Instrument Cluster (IC) verify correct Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) operation through the Controller Area Network (CAN) when the key is turned to the ON position.
- DTC B2141 (NVM (Non-Volatile Memory) Configuration Failure)- sets when the IC (Instrument Cluster) and TCM (Transmission Control Module) IDs have not been sent.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- IC (Instrument Cluster)
PINPOINT TEST C : DTC B2141
NOTE: When using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS), the IC (Instrument Cluster) and the TCM (Transmission Control Module) parameters are reset at the same time.
C1 RESET THE IC (Instrument Cluster) AND THE TCM (Transmission Control Module) PARAMETERS
- Carry out the parameter reset procedure for both modules. Refer to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset .
- Cycle the ignition several times, holding the key in both positions for a minimum of 3 seconds.
After cycling the ignition several times, does the vehicle start?
Yes
The system is OK. CHECK for any other DTCs. If any other PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) -related DTCs are present, REFER to DTC Charts Antitheft and Alarm Systems.
No
GO to C2.
C2 RETRIEVE THE IC (Instrument Cluster) DTCs
- Turn the key to the OFF position for a minimum of 3 seconds.
- Clear the DTCs.
- Turn the key to the OFF position for a minimum of 3 seconds.
- Ignition ON.
- Retrieve the DTCs.
Is DTC B2141 retrieved?
Yes
VERIFY the TCM (Transmission Control Module) calibration is correct for the vehicle by matching the calibration number on
On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) with the As-Built data. If the calibration is OK, INSTALL a new IC (Instrument Cluster). CARRY OUT the parameter reset procedure on both modules. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset . PROGRAM the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) keys into the IC (Instrument Cluster). REFER to Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment . CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
If there are other PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) DTCs, REFER to DTC Charts Antitheft and Alarm Systems. If there are no PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) DTCs, the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) system is OK.
