Pinpoint Test Q: The Audio Front Control Module (ACM) Does Not Respond To Touchscreen Or Button Presses
Normal Operation
When a button is pressed on the Audio Front Control Module (ACM) (whether it is a hard button or the touchscreen), a signal is broadcast over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) to the modules in the audio system.
- DTC U2013:63 (Switch Pack: Circuit / Component Protection Time-Out)- sets in continuous memory when an ACM (Audio Front Control Module) hard button is stuck for longer than 2 minutes, or during the on-demand self-test if an ACM (Audio Front Control Module) hard button is detected as active for any duration. Make sure no ACM (Audio Front Control Module) buttons are pressed during the self-test.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Communication network concern
- ACM (Audio Front Control Module)
PINPOINT TEST Q : THE ACM (Audio Front Control Module) DOES NOT RESPOND TO TOUCHSCREEN OR BUTTON PRESSES
Q1 CHECK FOR DTC U2013:63
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) DTCs.
- Wait 3 minutes.
- Repeat the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) self-test, making sure that no buttons are pressed during the test.
Is DTC U2013:63 set in the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) ?
Yes
GO to Q3.
No
GO to Q2.
Q2 CHECK FOR SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATION WITH THE ACM (Audio Front Control Module)
- Carry out the network test using the scan tool.
Does the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) respond to the scan tool?
Yes
GO to Q3.
No
REFER to Information Bus.
Q3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (Audio Front Control Module) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new ACM (Audio Front Control Module). REFER to Audio Control Module (ACM) . TEST the system for normal operation. If the system still does not operate correctly, INSTALL a new video feed cable (part of the 14401 harness). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
