Pinpoint Test X: DTC U0159:00

Normal Operation

The Parking Aid Module (PAM) sends the volume cutback message to the Body Control Module (BCM) via the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN). The BCM (Body Control Module) gateways the message to the Audio Front Control Module (ACM) via the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN). When the PAM (Parking Aid Module) sounds the parking aid tone, the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) reduces the speaker output so that the parking aid tone can be heard more clearly.

- DTC U0159:00 (Lost Communication With Parking Assist Control Module "A": No Sub Type Information)- set by the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) when the volume cutback message is missing for greater than 5 seconds. When the message is missing, the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) defaults to no volume cutback when the parking aid tone is sounding.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- PAM (Parking Aid Module)

PINPOINT TEST X : DTC U0159:00

X1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to X2.
No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

X2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.

- Carry out the network test.

Does the PAM (Parking Aid Module) pass the network test?

Yes
GO to X3.
No
REFER to Information Bus.

X3 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs

- Carry out the self-test for the following modules:
- ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- BCM (Body Control Module)

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded in any module?

Yes
For the ACM (Audio Front Control Module), REFER to DTC Charts. Accessories and Optional Equipment

For the BCM (Body Control Module), REFER to Body Control Systems.
No
GO to X4.

X4 RECHECK THE ACM (Audio Front Control Module) DTCs
NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or PMI (Programmable Module Installation) may not have been carried out.

- Clear the DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait at least 10 seconds.

- Repeat the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC U0159:00 still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new PAM (Parking Aid Module). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) self-test. INSTALL a new ACM (Audio Front Control Module). REFER to Audio Control Module (ACM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
