Pinpoint Test BA: DTC U0154:00

Normal Operation

- DTC U0154:00 (Lost Communication With Occupant Classification Sensor [OCS (Occupant Classification System) ]: No Sub-Type Information)- sets in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) if data messages received from the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) are missing. For a complete list of all network messages, refer to Information Bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- OCSM (Occupant Classification System Module)

- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

PINPOINT TEST BA : DTC U0154:00

BA1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to BA2.
No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

BA2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.

- Carry out the network test.

Does the OCSM (Occupant Classification System Module) pass the network test?

Yes
GO to BA3.
No
REFER to Information Bus.

BA3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE OCSM (Occupant Classification System Module) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the OCSM (Occupant Classification System Module) self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
REFER to Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems.
No
GO to BA4.

BA4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
For DTC U3003:16, GO to Pinpoint Test BD. Pinpoint Test BD: DTC U3003:16

For DTC U3003:17, GO to Pinpoint Test BE. Pinpoint Test BE: DTC U3003:17
No
GO to BA5.

BA5 RECHECK THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) DTCs

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Is DTC U0154:00 still present?

Yes
GO to BA6.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

BA6 CHECK FOR DTC U0154:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Clear all DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait 10 seconds.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test.

- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0154:00 set in the Restraints Control Module (RCM)
module?

Yes
INSTALL a new OCSM (Occupant Classification System Module). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No
INSTALL a new IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
