A: No Air Bag Indicator
Electrical Schematic:
Normal Operation
The air bag indicator is designed to illuminate for six (± two) seconds when the ignition key is turned to the ON position. This initial six seconds of air bag indicator illumination (continuous warning indicator) is considered normal operation and is called "prove out" of the air bag indicator.
The air bag diagnostic monitor requires power at pins 1 and 6 in order to energize the air bag warning indicator circuit. If the air bag indicator circuit is open or the air bag diagnostic monitor does not have ignition voltage at pins 1 and 6, the air bag indicator will not illuminate.
Possible Causes
A no air bag indicator condition can be caused by:
1. A burned out bulb or an open circuit in the wiring for the air bag indicator circuit.
2. Loss of ignition voltage at pins 1 and 6 of the air bag diagnostic monitor.
