Headlamp Dimmer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the steering column filler panel.
2. Place the ignition switch in the "LOCK" position and remove the key.




3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Remove the hexagon nut (4) from the dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud.
5. Remove the washer head screw (3).
6. Remove the dimmer switch actuator rod (5) out of the slot on the dimmer switch assembly (2).
7. Remove the dimmer switch assembly (2) from the ignition switch assembly (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the dimmer switch assembly (2) onto the ignition switch assembly (1).

Important: You must remove all the lash from the dimmer switch actuator rod before tightening any screws.


2. Install the dimmer switch actuator rod (5) into the slot on the dimmer switch assembly (2).
3. Install the washer head screw (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notice.

4. Install the hexagon nut (4) onto the dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud.

* Tighten the screw to 4 Nm (35 lb in).
* Tighten the nut to 4 Nm (35 lb in).

5. Connect the electrical connector.




6. Install the steering column filler panel.
