Radiator Cooling Fan: Service and Repair

Fan Replacement (LLV, LLR) (2.9L, 3.7L)

Special Tools
* J 41240-5A Fan Clutch Wrench
* J 46406 Fan Clutch Remover and Installer

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (LLV, LLR) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (LH8) (Service and Repair).




2. Install the J 46406 and the J 41240-5A to the fan clutch.




3. Remove the fan hub nut in a counterclockwise rotation.

Installation Procedure





Warning

Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged cooling fan assembly. Replace damaged fans with new assemblies. An unbalanced cooling fan could fly apart causing personal injury and property damage.

1. Install the J 46406 and the J 41240-5A to the fan clutch.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the fan hub nut to the pulley and hand tighten in a clockwise rotation.
Tighten the fan clutch nut clockwise to 56 Nm (41 lb ft).
3. Install the fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (LLV, LLR) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (LH8) (Service and Repair).
