Door/Trunk Ajar Indicator/Lamp: Description and Operation
Door Ajar Indicator Description and Operation
Door Ajar Indicator System Components
The door ajar indicator system consists of the following components:
* The driver door lock/window switch (AXE)
* The passenger door lock/window switch (AXE)
* The body control module (BCM)
* The driver information center (DIC)
* The driver door latch
* The passenger door latch
* The left rear door latch
* The right rear door latch
Driver Door Ajar And Passenger Door Ajar (With AXE)
The driver door lock/window switch and passenger door lock/window switch each provides a 12V signal to their respective door ajar switches located within the door latch assembly. These switches are open when the door is closed and the voltage within the signal circuit will be at 12V. When a door is open, the contacts within the ajar switch close providing a ground path for the signal circuit dropping the voltage to 0. The door lock/widow switch will detect the drop in voltage and will send a serial data message to the BCM indicating the status of the door. When the ignition is ON, the BCM will then send a signal to the driver information center to display the DOOR AJAR message.
Left Rear And Right Rear Door Ajar (AXE)
The BCM provides 12V signal to each a ajar switch located within their respective door latch assemblies. These switches are open when the door is closed and the voltage within the signal circuit will be at 12V. When a door is open, the contacts within the ajar switch close providing a ground path for the signal circuit dropping the voltage to 0. The BCM will detect the drop in voltage and when the ignition is ON, the BCM will then send a signal to the driver information center to display the DOOR AJAR message
Driver, Passenger, Left Rear And Right Rear Door Ajar (Except AXE)
The BCM provides 12V signal to each a ajar switch located within their respective door latch assemblies. These switches are open when the door is closed and the voltage within the signal circuit will be at 12V. When a door is open, the contacts within the ajar switch close providing a ground path for the signal circuit dropping the voltage to 0. The BCM will detect the drop in voltage and when the ignition is ON, the BCM will then send a signal to the driver information center to display the DOOR AJAR message
