DTC 81-62
DTC 81-62: Non-stipulated Response Data1. Erase the DTC memory.
2. Check for a DTC.
Is DTC 81-61 or 81-62 indicated?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, go to the Trouble Code Descriptions.
3. Check the connection between the SRS right side wire harness 6P connector and the front passenger's weight sensor unit.
Is the connection OK?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Repair the poor connection and retest. If DTC 81-61 or 81-62 is still present, go to step 6.
4. Erase the DTC.
5. Check for a DTC.
Is DTC 81-61 or 81-62 indicated?
YES - Go to step 6.
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, go to the Trouble Code Descriptions.
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Check the No. 7 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES - Go to step 8.
NO - Replace the fuse, then turn the ignition switch ON (II). If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. 7 (7.5 A) fuse circuit (dashboard wire harness A or right side wire harness.
8. Disconnect the right side wire harness 6P connector (A) from the front passenger's weight sensor unit (B).
9. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
10. Check for voltage between the No. 3 terminal of the front passenger's weight sensor unit 6P connector and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 15.
NO - Go to step 11.
11. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
12. Disconnect dashboard wire harness A 18P connector C651 from the right side wire harness connector C651.
13. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
14. Check for voltage between the No. 1 terminal of dashboard wire harness A 18P connector C651 and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Open in the YEL/GRN wire of the right side wire harness; replace the right side wire harness.
NO - Open in the YEL/GRN wire of dashboard wire harness A; replace dashboard wire harness A.
15. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
16. Check resistance between the No. 6 terminal of the front passenger's weight sensor unit 6P connector and body ground. There should be 0 - 1.0 Ohm.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Go to step 17.
NO - Open in the BLK wire of the right side wire harness or poor ground at G651. Check connection at G651; if necessary, replace the right side wire harness.
17. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.
18. Disconnect both seat belt tensioner 2P connectors.
19. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit.
20. Disconnect the OPDS unit harness 8P connector D from the OPDS unit.
21. Check resistance between the No. 27 terminal of SRS unit connector B (28P) and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Go to step 22.
NO - Short to ground in the right side wire harness or SRS wire harness; replace the faulty harness.
22. Check resistance between the No. 27 terminal of SRS unit connector B (28P) and the No. 5 terminal of the front passenger's weight sensor unit 6P connector. There should be 0 - 1.0 Ohm.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Faulty front passenger's weight sensor unit or SRS unit; replace the front passenger's weight sensor unit. If the problem is still present, replace the SRS unit.
NO - Open in the GRN/ORN wire of the right side wire harness or SRS floor harness, or faulty front passenger's weight sensor unit; replace the faulty harness or front passenger's weight sensor unit.
