DTC P1890: Problem in Shift Control SystemNOTE: Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.
1. Check whether the D indicator indicates another code.
Does the D indicator indicate another code?
YES-Perform the Troubleshooting Flowchart for the indicated Code(s). Recheck for DTC P1890 after troubleshooting.
NO-Go to step 2.
2. Check for deterioration in the quality of ATF.
Has the ATF deteriorated?
YES-Replace ATF. Test-drive the vehicle under the same conditions that set the code, then recheck.
NO-Go to step 3.
3. Measure the stall speed RPM in the D position.
Is the stall speed over 3,500 rpm?
YES-Replace the transmission.
NO-If the stall speed is below 2,000 rpm, replace the lower valve body assembly. If the stall speed is 2,000 - 3,500 rpm, go to step 4.
4. Drive the vehicle at 30 mph (50 km/h) constantly for several minutes.
5. Check the engine speed with respect to vehicle speed.
Is the engine speed within the specification?
YES-Replace the lower valve body assembly.
NO-Replace the transmission.
