DTC P1791: Problem in Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit

NOTE: Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.

1. Set the parking brake, and block both rear wheels securely.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
3. Shift to the R position.
4. Disconnect TCM connectors A (26P) and B (22P).
5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).





6. Measure the voltage between TCM connector terminals B5 and A4 or A17 while rotating the front wheel slowly by hand.
Is there 0 V and 5 V alternately?
YES-Check for loose terminal fit in the TCM connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good TCM and recheck..
NO-Check for an open or a short in the wire between TCM connector terminal B5 and the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). If the wire is OK, replace the VSS.
