C1212
DTC C1212 SPEED INPUT OPEN/SHORT CIRCUITCOMPONENT LOCATION:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
TPMS RECEIVER
The TPMS receiver uses the vehicle standard speed input in both its auto-location and DTC function. When there is a failure of this input, the Speed Sensor Fault DTC shall be set to active, and TPMS Warning indicator shall turn on.
DTC DESCRIPTION
This DTC indicates that there is a speed input to receiver failure. It can be caused by damage to speed sensor, receiver input failure, incorrectly wired harness & shorted or open pins.
DTC DETECTING CONDITION:
SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM:
TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION
1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminal condition. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?
YES
- Repair if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO
- Go to "Speedometer inspection" procedure.
SPEEDOMETER INSPECTION
1. Ignition "ON" & Engine "ON".
2. With vehicle raised on a lift, start the engine and place transaxle in Drive. Let vehicle idle and verify speedometer indicates approximately 10 km/h or more (6 mph or more) on the instrument cluster.
3. Does the speedometer indicate normally?
YES
- Go to "Signal Circuit inspection" procedure.
NO
- Check for open or short circuit between "10,14" terminal of the Instrument Cluster connector[M01-B] and "14,15" terminal of the HECU connector [E02].
- Repair if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
- If harness condition is OK, Refer to DTC guide of the ABS system.
SIGNAL CIRCUIT INSPECTION
OPEN CHECK
1. Ignition "OFF" & Engine "OFF".
2. Disconnect TPMS connector and Instrument cluster connector.
3. Measure resistance between speed input terminal of the TPMS harness connector and speed output terminal of the instrument cluster harness connector.
Specification: 0 Ohms
4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?
YES
- Check for short circuit between TPMS harness connector and Instrument cluster harness connector.
- Substitute with a known-good TPMS receiver and check for proper operation.
- If the problem is corrected, replace TPMS receiver and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO
- Repair in speed signal circuit between instrument cluster harness connector and TPMS receiver harness connector and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR
Refer to DTC C1121. C1121
