Code 43

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
TCM contains an intermittent relay. When the TCM energizes, the relay contacts close to provide a ground path for the 1-2/3/4, 2-3 and band apply solenoids. If the TCM detects an electrical failure, it switches into back-up mode and de-energizes the relay which removes the ground path for the solenoids.

TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. This test checks the continuity of the wire from terminal 54 of the TCM to the solenoids.
2. This test determines if terminal 54 of the TCM is shorted to ground.
3. This test checks the continuity of the ground wires to the TCM connector.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Trouble Code 43 is set when the TCM reads a change after reset. In the event of an electrical failure, the TCM de-energizes its internal relay. The ground path for 1-2/3-4, 2-3, and band apply solenoids is removed. The solenoids are de-energized. Electrical failures may only be recognized during actual vehicle operation, not just with ignition switch on. If the wire to TCM terminal 54 is open, or intermittently open while driving, the TCM may also store codes 25, 28, 34, and/or 36
