Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

Exhaust Manifold Replacement (LLR - 3.7L)

Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution (Exhaust Service Caution).
Caution: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Caution (Protective Goggles and Glove Caution).




1. Remove the exhaust seal. Refer to Exhaust Seal Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LLR - 3.7L) (Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement).
3. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts.




4. Remove the exhaust manifold and the gasket from the engine. Discard the gasket.

Installation Procedure




1. Place a NEW exhaust manifold gasket on to the cylinder head.




2. Position the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
3. Apply threadlock GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the exhaust manifold bolt threads.
4. Install the exhaust manifold bolts.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

5. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts in sequence.

1. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts in sequence to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
2. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts in sequence to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
3. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts in sequence to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LLR - 3.7L) (Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement).
7. Install the exhaust seal. Refer to Exhaust Seal Replacement (Service and Repair).
