Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve - Installation

INSTALLATION





1. Clean the gasket mounting area at the rear of the cylinder head and EGR valve.
2. Install a new gasket (2).
3. Position the EGR valve (1) to the rear of the cylinder head and install two EGR valve mounting bolts (3). Tighten bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).





4. For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, raise and secure the vehicle on a hoist Service and Repair
5. Install the bolt (1) securing the transmission fluid level indicator tube. Tighten bolt to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).





6. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the EGR valve (1).





7. Install the ignition wire harness tray (1) to the valve cover studs and connect the right bank ignition wires (cylinders 1, 3 and 5) to the spark plugs.





8. Install the upper intake manifold and EGR tube Intake Manifold - Installation.
9. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
