Engine Timing Cover(s) - Removal






REMOVAL





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system Service and Repair
3. Remove the air cleaner hose (1) and housing assembly Air Cleaner Body - Removal.










4. Loosen the three mounting bolts at the water pump pulley (4).
5. Remove the accessory drive belt (8) and belt tensioner (6) Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner - Removal





6. Remove the water pump pulley bolts. Rotate the pulley (2) until the openings in the pulley align with the water pump drive hub spokes (1) and remove the pulley (2).





7. Remove the generator (3) Generator - Removal





8. Raise and support the vehicle on a hoist Service and Repair
9. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter (2) Service and Repair.





10. Remove the oil level indicator (1) and tube (2).





11. Remove the structural cover and oil pan Engine Oil Pan - Removal





12. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
13. Disconnect the heater hose.
14. Disconnect the oil pressure switch (1).





15. Remove the power steering pump fasteners (2) and reposition the power steering pump (1).





16. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bolts (1, 3 and 4) and reposition the A/C compressor (2).





17. Remove the crankshaft vibration damper bolt.
18. Place Crankshaft Insert 8450 (2) into the crankshaft nose.
19. Position Puller 1023 (1) on the damper. Turn the puller forcing screw until the damper releases from the crankshaft and remove the crankshaft vibration damper.





20. Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor from the timing chain cover Camshaft Position Sensor - Removal










21. Remove the timing chain cover fasteners (1-7) and remove the timing chain cover.
