Inspection/Repair - W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminal connections.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?

Signal Circuit Inspection

Check CAN BUS Short to Ground
1. IG "OFF"
2. Disconnect CAN communication modules. (ECM, TCM, ESC (ABS), Instrument Cluster, ALS, 4WD,Steering angle sensor).
3. Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH terminal of DLC harness connector and and chassis ground.
4. Measure the resistance between CAN-LOW terminal of DLC harness connector and and chassis ground.

Specification : Discontinuity (Infinite Ohms)

5. Is the measured resistance within specification ?

Check CAN BUS Short to battery
1. IG "OFF"
2. Disconnect CAN communication modules. (ECM, TCM, ESC (ABS), Instrument Cluster, ALS, 4WD,Steering angle sensor).
3. IG "ON"
4. Measure the voltage between CAN-HIGH terminal of DLC harness connector and and chassis ground.
5. Measure the voltage between CAN-LOW terminal of DLC harness connector and and chassis ground.

Specification : below 0V

6. Is "voltage" display near the specified value?

Check open in CAN BUS line
1. IG "OFF" and disconnect CAN communication modules. (ECM, TCM, ESC (ABS), Instrument Cluster, ALS, 4WD,Steering angle sensor).
2. Check resistance between CAN-HIGH terminal of Data Link Connector and CAN-HIGH terminal of each module. (Measurement "A")
3. Check resistance between CAN-LOW terminal of Data Link Connector and CAN-LOW terminal of each module. (Measurement "B")

Specification : below 1.0 Ohms

4. Is the measured resistance within specification ?
