Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) fault Drive cycle A:Signal out of range - above maximum.

Possible causes by suggested order of priority:
- MIL harness short circuit.
- Instrument pack MIL problem.
- Motronic ECM fault.

MIL harness short circuit.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
- ECM reports MIL output overload.
- Harness cable connected to C233/13 (RS) shorted to battery positive - MIL never illuminated.
POSSIBLE FAULTS
- Harness C233/13 (RS) shorted to battery positive.
- Use multimeter to manually check components.

Instrument pack MIL problem.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
- ECM reports MIL output overload.
- If TestBook available run warnings and sounders diagnostic to check instrument pack function.
POSSIBLE FAULTS
- Problem with instrument pack MIL input.
- Use multimeter to manually check components.

Motronic ECM fault.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
- MIL never illuminates.
- Instrument pack (warnings and sounders) diagnostic shows no problem and no short circuit present.
- Check ECM by substitution with a known good unit.
POSSIBLE FAULTS
- Faulty Motronic ECM
