Oil Cooler: Service and Repair






Oil Cooler
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
1 Raise and support the vehicle.
2 Drain the cooling system.

3 Remove the intake manifold assembly.
For additional information, refer to Intake Manifold Service and Repair




4 Remove the dipstick tube.
5 Loosen the element cover 4 complete turns to allow engine oil to drain from the filter cover.





CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
6 Remove the oil filter assembly.
7 Remove and discard the gasket.





NOTE:
Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
8 Remove the coolant hose.




9 Remove the hose and discard the seals.





10 Remove the oil cooler.

11 Remove and discard the 2 gaskets.

Installation
1 Install new gaskets.
2 Install the engine oil cooler.
Torque to: 10 Nm
3 Install the hose.
Torque to: 10 Nm
4 Install and tighten the engine oil filter.
Torque to: 5 Nm
5 Install the coolant hose.
6 Install the new gasket.
7 Install the dipstick tube.
Torque to: 10 Nm
8 Install the intake manifold assembly.

9 Fill and bleed the cooling system.

10 Check and top-up the engine oil if required.
