DTC P2601-777 - Coolant Pump Control Circuit Range / Performance

DESCRIPTION
HINT: This is the repair procedure for the "oil pump control circuit".

The HV control ECU detects the Generator and Motor temperature through signals from the generator and motor temperature sensors and activates the oil pump relay and oil pump driver (oil pump w/ motor assembly).
The HV control ECU monitors OPST signals from the oil pump driver and detects a malfunction.

Conditions for the oil pump w/ motor assembly to be activated
The oil pump w/ motor assembly is activated when:
1. Generator temperature is 248°F (120°C) or more
2. Motor temperature is 266°F (130°C) or more and Generator temperature is 212°F (100°C) or more
HINT:
- In case of the second condition, if the oil pump w/ motor assembly is not activated even though the Generator temperature is 212°F (100 °C) or more, attempt to activate the oil pump w/ motor assembly by changing the Generator temperature to 230 (110), 248 (120), 266 (130), 284 (140) and 302°F (150°C) respectively.
- The oil pump cannot be activated only with the oil pump relay on. It is activated after receiving the command signals (OPM1) from the HV control ECU.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
- When troubleshooting the oil pump w/ motor assembly, check for the following conditions:

- ATF temperature inside the oil cooler is 41°F (5°C) or more.
- Value of the ambient temperature sensor is 41°F (5°C) or more.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK OPERATION OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Inspection Mode-2WD Inspection.
(d) Check the waveform between the terminals of the HV control ECU.
OK:

Result:

D -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY)
C -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY)
B -- REPLACE HV CONTROL ECU
A -- REPLACE OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY)
(a) Disconnect O9 oil pump w/ motor assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the H34 connector from the HV control ECU.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for open):

Standard Resistance (Check for short):

(d) Reconnect the HV control ECU connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT HV CONTROL ECU (OPM1 TERMINAL CONTINUITY CHECK)
(a) Disconnect the H31 and H34 HV control ECU connectors.
(b) Check the continuity between each terminal.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE HV CONTROL ECU
OK -- REPLACE OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY)
(a) Disconnect the O9 oil pump w/ motor assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the H34 HV control ECU connector.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HV CONTROL ECU
