P2601-778
P310 HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P2601-778: Coolant Pump Control Circuit Range / Performance
DTC P2601-778 - Coolant Pump Control Circuit Range / Performance
DESCRIPTION
HINT: This is the repair procedure for the "oil pump control circuit".
The HV control ECU detects the Generator and Motor temperature through signals from the generator and motor temperature sensors and activates the oil pump relay and oil pump driver (oil pump w/ motor assembly).
The HV control ECU monitors OPST signals from the oil pump driver and detects a malfunction.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
- When troubleshooting the oil pump w/ motor assembly, check for the following conditions:
- ATF temperature inside the oil cooler is 41°F (5°C) or more.
- Value of the ambient temperature sensor is 41°F (5°C) or more.
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
HINT: Values of the ambient temperature sensor are used as judgement values in order to detect DTC P2601-778. Check that the ambient temperature sensor operates normally, because P2601-778 may be mistakenly detected due to a malfunction in the ambient temperature sensor.
(a) Following the troubleshooting procedures for the ambient temperature sensor, check that the ambient temperature sensor operates normally.
NG -- GO TO AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT FLUID PIPING
(a) Check that there is no blockage or clog in the pipes among the oil pump w/ motor assembly, oil cooler, and HV transaxle.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLUID PIPING
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK OPERATION OF OIL PUMP W/ MOTOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Inspection Mode-2WD Inspection.
(d) Move to "Inspection Mode-2WD Inspection" and put the vehicle into READY-on state to enter oil pump forced activation mode.
(e) Read the DTCs of the HV system.
Result:
P2061-778 is output.
HINT: If overload driving is performed in cold climates, coil temperature may reach the starting condition temperature before ATF temperature reaches ready-to-start temperature. If any DTC is output under the above condition, it is unnecessary to replace the parts because it is not due to the oil pump malfunction but DTC out of operation coverage for the oil pump w/ motor assembly. If ATF whose low temperature viscosity is higher than ATF-WS is in the HV transaxle, DTC P2601-778 may be output.
YES -- REPLACE OIL PUMP W/ MOTOR ASSEMBLY
NO -- SYSTEM OK
