Power Seat Position Is Not Memorized
SEAT: FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM: Power Seat Position is not Memorized
- Power Seat Position is not Memorized
DESCRIPTION
The main body ECU receives seat memory switch signals from the outer mirror control ECU via CAN communication. If the SET switch is being pressed when one of the M1 or M2 switches is pressed, or if one of the M1 or M2 switches is pressed within 3 seconds of pressing the SET switch, the main body ECU sends a memory request signal to the front power seat switch LH. After receiving the request signal, the front power seat switch LH memorized location data of each motor.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
First perform the communication function inspections in How to Proceed with Troubleshooting to confirm that there are no CAN communication malfunctions before troubleshooting this symptom.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL FUNCTION
(a) Check that each function of the power seat operates normally by using the front power seat switches.
OK:
Each function of power seat operates normally by using seat switches.
NG -- GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Problem Symptoms Table
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT POSITION MEMORY)
(a) Use the seat memory switch to record the seat position Operation Check.
NOTICE:
* The seat position will not be recorded if the SET switch and both memory switches are pressed simultaneously.
* If a memorizing operation has failed, release all switches. The seat memory function does not operate unless the switches are released.
(b) Using the Techstream, read the Data List Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
Driver Seat
OK:
"Mem" is displayed on the tester.
NG -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT MEMORY SWITCH)
OK -- END
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT MEMORY SWITCH)
(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
Mirror L
OK:
On Techstream screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.
NG -- INSPECT SEAT MEMORY SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH (OPERATION)
(a) Replace the front power seat switch with a new one or normally operating one Disassembly.
(b) Use the seat memory switch to record the seat position Operation Check.
(c) Refer to the Data List for the driver seat and check that the memory operation is completed normally.
OK:
Seat position is recorded normally.
NG -- CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (OPERATION)
OK -- END (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH IS DEFECTIVE)
5. INSPECT SEAT MEMORY SWITCH
(a) Remove the seat memory switch Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPLACE SEAT MEMORY SWITCH Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU - SEAT MEMORY SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect the K8 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the k2 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly
7. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (OPERATION)
(a) Replace the main body ECU with a new one or normally operating one Removal.
(b) Use the seat memory switch to record the seat position Operation Check.
(c) Refer to the Data List for the driver seat and check that the memory operation is completed normally.
OK:
Seat position is recorded normally.
NG -- REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly
OK -- END (MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU] IS DEFECTIVE)
