Removal
BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR: REMOVAL
1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System:
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:
* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the steering wheel assembly Removal.
4. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN LOWER COVER Removal
5. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN UPPER COVER Removal
6. REMOVE SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly Removal.
NOTICE:
* Do not replace the spiral cable with the battery connected and the engine switch on.
* Do not rotate the spiral cable with the battery connected and the engine switch on.
* Make sure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering angle sensor.
* Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
