Installation





2GR-FXE INTAKE / EXHAUST: EXHAUST PIPE: INSTALLATION

NOTICE:
For vehicles with the exhaust heat recirculation system, if the center exhaust pipe assembly needs to be removed and reinstalled, the temperature switch should be replaced. This is because glass material is used in the temperature switch element and the element can be easily damaged in the removal and reinstallation procedures of the center exhaust pipe assembly.

1. INSTALL NO. 2 OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) Installation

2. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

(a) Install a new gasket to the front exhaust pipe assembly.

(b) Install the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 nuts and 2 bolts (B).





Bolt B - Torque : 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

Nut - Torque : 55 Nm (561 kgf-cm, 40 ft-lbf)

(c) Tighten the bolt (A).

Bolt A - Torque : 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

(d) Connect the 2 clamps and No. 2 oxygen sensor connector (for Bank 2 Sensor 2).





3. INSTALL FRONT NO. 3 EXHAUST PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install 2 new gaskets to the front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly.

(b) Install the front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.





Bolt - Torque : 55 Nm (561 kgf-cm, 40 ft-lbf)

Nut - Torque : 55 Nm (561 kgf-cm, 40 ft-lbf)

4. INSTALL OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2) Installation

5. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

NOTICE:
For vehicles with the exhaust heat recirculation system, if the center exhaust pipe assembly needs to be removed and reinstalled, the temperature switch should be replaced. This is because glass material is used in the temperature switch element and the element can be easily damaged in the removal and reinstallation procedures of the center exhaust pipe assembly.

(a) Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression springs.





Minimum length:

41.5 mm (1.64 in.)

If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

(b) Fully insert a new gasket to the front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly.

(c) Using a plastic hammer and wooden block, tap in the new gasket until its surface is flush with the front No. 3 exhaust pipe sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
* Be sure to install the gasket in the correct direction.
* Do not reuse the gasket.
* Do not damage the gasket.
* Do not push in the gasket by using the exhaust pipe when connecting it.

(d) Connect the center exhaust pipe assembly to the 4 exhaust pipe supports.

(e) Install the center exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.





Torque : 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

(f) Connect the 2 heater water hoses.





6. INSTALL HEATER COVER

(a) Install the heater cover with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)

(b) Connect the clamp.

7. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE DAMPER

(a) Install the exhaust pipe damper with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf)

8. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression springs.





Minimum length:

41.5 mm (1.64 in.)

If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

(b) Fully insert a new gasket to the center exhaust pipe assembly.

(c) Using a plastic hammer and wooden block, tap in the new gasket until its surface is flush with the center exhaust pipe assembly.

(d) Connect the tail exhaust pipe assembly to the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

(e) Install the tail exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.





Torque : 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

9. INSTALL TEMPERATURE SWITCH

(a) Install the temperature switch Installation.

10. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
