DTC P3107-214 - Airbag ECU Communication Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
- Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.
- After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals. After waiting, check the voltage at the inspection point in the inverter with converter assembly. The voltage should be 0 V before beginning work.
HINT: Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY





(a) Connect an oscilloscope between the center airbag sensor assembly terminals specified in the table below, and measure the waveform.






OK:
The waveform appears as shown in the illustration.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CLEAR DTC
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
(d) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(e) Clear the DTCs.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
3. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT (HV)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(d) Read output DTCs.
Result:
DTC P3107-214 is output.
YES -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
NO -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
(a) Check for intermittent problems Check For Intermittent Problems

YES -- REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
NO -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY)
(a) Turn the power switch off.





(b) Disconnect connector K44 from the center airbag sensor assembly.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:





NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(e) Turn the power switch off.
(f) Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(g) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):






Standard resistance (Check for short):






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).





(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:





NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the center airbag sensor assembly disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

NG -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
OK -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
