L110F Hybrid Vehicle Control System

L110F HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0338-885: Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit High Input

DTC P0338-885 - Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit High Input

DESCRIPTION
- The hybrid vehicle control ECU compares the engine speed sent from the ECM via CAN communication and the engine speed that is indicated by pulses sent from the ECM. If the pulse input is not normal, the hybrid vehicle control ECU sets this DTC.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM)
(a) Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items:
(1) Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS /ENHANCED OBDII / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
(2) Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
(d) Check if DTCs are output.
Result:

B -- GO TO DTC CHART
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR)

(a) Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.
OK:
The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.
NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (ECM CONNECTOR)

(a) Check the connections of the ECM connectors.
OK:
The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.
NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (CHECK WAVEFORM)

(a) Connect an oscilloscope between the hybrid vehicle control ECU terminals specified in the table below, and measure the waveform.

Result:

C -- CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - ECM)
A -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
(a) Check for intermittent problems. Check For Intermittent Problems

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - ECM)
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect connector A75 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Disconnect connector A14 from the ECM.
(d) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(e) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the ECM and hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(f) Turn the power switch off.
(g) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE ECM
7. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect connector A14 from the ECM.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the ECM connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - ECM)
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK ECM
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Connect connector A14 to the ECM.

(c) Disconnect connector A75 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE ECM
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - ECM)

(a) Disconnect connector A14 from the ECM.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
