DTC P0705-180 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the shift lever is in the S position, different ranges can be chosen using the floor shift sequential gate.





HINT: DTC P0705-180 indicates a malfunction in the transmission control switch circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (SPORTS MODE)
(a) Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items:
(1) Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / HV ECU / DATA LIST / SPORTS MODE.
(2) Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Mode.
(d) Read the data list.
OK:

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (SPORTS UP SIG, SPORTS DOWN SIG)
(a) Select the following menu items:
(1) Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / HV ECU / DATA LIST / SPORTS UP SIG, SPORTS DOWN SIG.
(2) Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Shift UP Signal, Sports Shift Down Signal.
(b) Read the data list.
OK:

NG -- INSPECT TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
(a) Check for intermittent problems. Check For Intermittent Problems

(1) Move the shift lever to the S position and jiggle the wire harness and connector.
(2) Move the shift lever to the + and - positions and jiggle the wire harness and connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
4. INSPECT TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)





(a) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance :






NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU)
(a) Connect the transmission control switch connector.





(b) Disconnect connector A75 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance :






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)





(a) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage :






NG -- CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. INSPECT TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)





(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance :






NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU)
(a) Connect the transmission control switch connector.





(b) Disconnect connector A75 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage :





NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance :






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
