P3177
L110F HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P3177-864: Transmission Oil Pump Motor Coil Temperature Sensor Circuit High
DTC P3177-864 - Transmission Oil Pump Motor Coil Temperature Sensor Circuit High
DESCRIPTION
The resistance of the temperature sensor (thermistor) installed in the oil pump motor changes in accordance with changes in the oil pump motor temperature. The lower the oil pump motor temperature, the higher the temperature sensor (thermistor) resistance. Conversely, the higher the temperature, the lower the resistance. The oil pump motor temperature sensor (thermistor) is connected to the hybrid vehicle control ECU. Power source voltage of 5 V is supplied to the oil pump motor temperature sensor (thermistor) through terminal TOPM of the hybrid vehicle control ECU. This means that resistor R in the ECU and the oil pump motor temperature sensor (thermistor) are connected in series. The voltage at terminal TOPM and the resistance value change in accordance with changes in the oil pump motor temperature.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT: The characteristics of the oil pump motor temperature sensor resistance (reference values) are as follows:
PROCEDURE
1. CLEAR DTC
(a) Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items:
(1) Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / HV ECU / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
(2) Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(d) Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
(e) Select the following menu items:
(1) Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / HV ECU / DTC INFO / CLEAR CODES.
(2) Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(f) Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (OPM TEMPERATURE)
(a) Select the following menu items:
(1) Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / HV ECU / DATA LIST / OPM TEMPERATURE.
(2) Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / OPM Temperature.
(b) Read the data list.
Result:
B -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect connectors A74 and E55 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(e) Turn the power switch off.
(f) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (OIL PUMP MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
4. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (OIL PUMP MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect the oil pump motor temperature sensor connector.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor temperature sensor connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(e) Turn the power switch off.
(f) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
