Taillight Relay Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The main body ECU receives a signal from the light control switch, and turns the taillight relay on.
HINT:
- When any of the lights do not illuminate, check the bulb or wire harness that is related to the bulb.
- When all of the lights that are related to the TAIL relay do not illuminate and the TAIL fuse is normal, read the light control switch TAIL signal value in the data list and perform the taillight relay active test to determine if the malfunction exists on either the switch side or the relay side.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn Techstream on.
(d) Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
(e) Check that the relay operates.

Main Body:





OK:
Taillight relay operates. (Taillights illuminate.)
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT FUSE (TAIL)
(a) Remove the TAIL fuse from the instrument panel J/B assembly.
(b) Measure the resistance of the fuse.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ohms
NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT TAILLIGHT RELAY




(a) Remove the taillight relay from the instrument panel J/B assembly.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE TAILLIGHT RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the DP and DC instrument panel J/B assembly connectors.




(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:






OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)
NG -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY)




(a) Disconnect the DA instrument panel J/B assembly connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
