L110 HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0711-883: Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Range / Performance

DTC P0711-883 - Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Range / Performance

DESCRIPTION

The transmission fluid temperature sensor, which is installed in the valve body, is used to detect the fluid temperature of the transmission fluid pressure control circuit. The sensor signal is used by the hybrid vehicle control ECU to determine transmission fluid temperature.

HINT: DTC P0711-833 will be set if the engine coolant temperature changes from 35°C (95°F) or less to 60°C (140°F) after the power switch is turned on (READY).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
- Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.
- After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals. After waiting, check the voltage at the inspection point in the inverter with converter assembly. The voltage should be 0 V before beginning work.
HINT: Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(d) Check if DTCs are output.
Result:

YES -- GO TO DTC CHART
NO -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR)
(a) Turn the power switch off.

(b) Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.
Result:
The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.
NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR)

(a) Disconnect connector E84 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

OK -- CLEAR DTC
NG -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (TRANSMISSION WIRE CONNECTOR)

(a) Check the connections of the transmission wire connectors.
Result:
The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.
NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - TRANSMISSION WIRE)

(a) Disconnect connector E89 from the transmission wire.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

NOTICE:
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(d) Turn the power switch off.
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):

Standard resistance (Check for short):

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE
6. CLEAR DTC
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
(d) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(e) Clear the DTCs.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
7. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / T/M Oil Temperature.
(d) Read the data list.
Result:
The T/M Oil Temperature value does not fluctuate excessively within the normal range.
NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
(a) Check for intermittent problems. L110 Hybrid Vehicle Control System
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. CHECK FOR FLUID LEAK
(a) Check for fluid leaks from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.
OK:
There are no fluid leaks.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
