Open In CAN Main Wire
CAN COMMUNICATION: CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM: Open in CAN Main Wire
Open in CAN Main Wire
DESCRIPTION
There may be an open circuit in the CAN main wire and / or the DLC3 branch wire when the resistance between terminals 6 (CANH) and 14 (CANL) of the DLC3 is 69 Ohms or more.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Turn the power switch OFF before measuring the resistances of the main wire and the branch wire.
HINT: Operating the power switch, any switches or any doors triggers related ECU and sensor communication with the CAN, which causes resistance variation.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DLC3
(a) Measure the resistance of the DLC3.
NOTICE:
When the measured value is 132 Ohms or more and a CAN communication system diagnostic trouble code is output, there may be a fault besides disconnection of the DLC3 branch wire. For that reason, troubleshooting should be performed again from "HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING" How to Proceed With Troubleshooting after repairing the trouble area.
B -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE CONNECTED TO DLC3 (CANH, CANL)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CAN MAIN WIRE FOR DISCONNECTION (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR RR - ECM)
(a) Disconnect the V37 CAN junction connector RR connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
OK -- CHECK CAN MAIN WIRE FOR DISCONNECTION (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR RR - ECM)
NG -- Continue to next step.
3. CONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Reconnect the V37 CAN junction connector RR connector.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK CAN MAIN WIRE FOR DISCONNECTION (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR CENTER - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU)
(a) Disconnect the K83 junction connector center connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK CAN MAIN WIRE FOR DISCONNECTION (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR CENTER - CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR RR)
(a) Disconnect the K87 junction connector center connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN WIRE OR CONNECTOR (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR CENTER - CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR RR)
OK -- REPLACE CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR CENTER
6. CONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Reconnect the K83 CAN junction connector center connector.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK CAN MAIN WIRE FOR DISCONNECTION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR CENTER)
(a) Disconnect the A54 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN WIRE CONNECTED TO HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR CENTER)
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
8. CHECK CAN MAIN WIRE FOR DISCONNECTION (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR RR - ECM)
(a) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
OK -- REPLACE CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR RR
NG -- Continue to next step.
9. CONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Reconnect the V37 CAN junction connector RR connector.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
10. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (ECM - CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR RR)
(a) Disconnect the A53 ECM connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN WIRE CONNECTED TO ECM (ECM - CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR RR)
OK -- REPLACE ECM
