P1362
1UR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P1362: "B" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit Open, Low, High Bank1
DTC P1362 - "B" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit Open, Low, High Bank1
DTC P1363 - "B" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit Open, Low, High Bank2
DESCRIPTION
The electric VVT changes the valve timing according to the motor. In comparison to a conventional hydraulic VVT, the valve timing range is greater and the VVT operates even when the engine rpm is low or the engine is cold. As a result, it is possible to increase engine output and mileage.
The camshaft control timing motor is equipped with a self diagnostic function, which is used to output diagnosis signals (VTM) to the ECM.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
This DTC is output when a rotation direction signal malfunction is detected in the intake side camshaft timing control motor. While the engine is running, if a rotation direction signal (VTD) malfunction is detected, a DTC is output (1 trip detection logic).
When there is a malfunction, if the engine is idled for 30 seconds or the vehicle is driven in an urban area for 5 minutes, a DTC is output.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT: Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT VVT RELAY (VVT LH, VVT RH)
(a) Remove the VVT LH relay or VVT RH relay from the engine room No. 2 relay block.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(c) Reinstall the relay.
NG -- REPLACE VVT RELAY (VVT LH, VVT RH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL POWER SOURCE)
(a) Disconnect the camshaft timing control motor connector.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
(d) Reconnect the camshaft timing control motor.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VVT LH OR VVT RH RELAY POWER SOURCE)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR - ENGINE GROUND)
(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Disconnect the camshaft timing control motor connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(d) Reconnect the camshaft timing control motor connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR - ENGINE GROUND)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR - ECM)
(a) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(b) Disconnect the camshaft timing control motor connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):
Standard resistance (Check for short):
(d) Reconnect the camshaft timing control motor connector and ECM connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR (BANK 1 OR BANK 2)
(a) Check that the 3 bolts of the camshaft timing control motor are tightened securely.
Torque: 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)
NG -- TIGHTEN BOLT
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR
(a) Replace the camshaft timing control motor Components.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
7. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine and idled it for 10 seconds.
(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
(d) Read the DTCs.
Result:
B -- GO TO DTC CHART
A -- END
8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VVT LH OR VVT RH RELAY POWER SOURCE)
(a) Remove the VVT LH or VVT RH relay.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
