DTC 5-1 - LEXUS Link Communication Error

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when one of the following occurs: 1) the mayday ECU is malfunctioning; 2) the bus buffer ECU is malfunctioning; 3) the main body ECU is malfunctioning; or 4) the CAN line / wire harness is open or shorted.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC (BLINKING PATTERN)
(a) Turn the power switch from ON (IG) to OFF.
(b) Turn the power switch ON (IG) and wait for 10 seconds.
(c) Check for the DTC again and wait for 20 seconds Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTC 5-1 is not output.
NG -- CHECK FOR DTC
OK -- CLEAR HISTORIC DTC
2. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Check for DTC using the Techstream Diagnosis System.
HINT: The bus buffer ECU is connected to the CAN. Check that there are no CAN communication system DTCs present.

HINT: The "U" code is a CAN communication system code.

B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH
(a) When the headlight dimmer switch is set to the low beam position, check that the hazard switch illuminates.
OK:
Hazard switch illuminates.
HINT: The mayday ECU uses the dimmer switch signal from the main body ECU to judge if communication has stopped.

NG -- GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM
OK -- REPLACE MAYDAY ECU TOGETHER WITH MAYDAY BATTERY AND THEN PERFORM REGISTRATION
