B2416 - Height Control Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The AFS ECU receives signals indicating the height of the vehicle from the rear height control sensor.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn Techstream on.

(d) Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / AFS / Data List.

(e) Read the display on Techstream.

OK:

Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY)

OK -- REPLACE AFS ECU

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the A22 AFS ECU connector.





(b) Disconnect the O1 rear height control sensor sub-assembly connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT AFS ECU

(a) Reconnect the A22 AFS ECU connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





NG -- REPLACE AFS ECU
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.





(b) Remove the rear height control sensor sub-assembly.

(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3, and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 1.

(d) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.

Standard voltage:





NG -- REPLACE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

OK -- REPLACE AFS ECU
