POWER STEERING: POWER STEERING SYSTEM: C1552,C1554: PIG Power Supply Voltage Malfunction


DESCRIPTION

This circuit supplies power to drive the power steering motor.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-B, EPS FUSE)

(a) Check for continuity of the ECU-B and EPS fuses.

Standard resistance:

Below 1 Ohms

NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RELAY

(a) Remove the EPS relay from the engine room No. 1 R/B.





(b) Measure the resistance of the ESP relay.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RELAY - BATTERY)

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (EPS RELAY - POWER STEERING ECU)

(a) Disconnect the A23 connector from the power steering ECU.





(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness connector.

Standard resistance:





NOTICE:
If replacing the power steering ECU, initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Power Steering System.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU
