P3108-538 - A/C Amplifier Communication Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

- The hybrid vehicle control ECU detects a wiring malfunction in the serial communication line between it and the compressor with motor assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

(d) Check if DTCs are output.

Result:









NOTICE:
P3108-535, 536 or 538 may be set due to a malfunction which also causes DTCs in the preceding table to be set. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the preceding table. Then, perform a test to attempt to reproduce the problems, and check that no DTCs are output. After troubleshooting and repairing all output DTCs, be sure to replace the inverter with converter assembly.

(e) Turn the power switch off.

2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) P0343

NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR)

(a) Disconnect connector C26 from the compressor with motor assembly.





OK:

The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

(a) Disconnect connector C26 from the compressor with motor assembly.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard Resistance:

(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NOTICE:
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the compressor with motor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

(e) Turn the power switch off.

(f) Connect the compressor with motor assembly connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (READY).

(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

(d) Check if DTCs are output.

Result:





(e) Turn the power switch off.

B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY)
A -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect connector C28 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

(b) Disconnect connector C26 from the compressor with motor assembly.

(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

NOTICE:
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector and the compressor with motor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

(e) Turn the power switch off.

(f) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance (Check for Open):

(g) Connect the compressor with motor assembly connector.

(h) Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

(a) Disconnect connector C26 from the compressor with motor assembly.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard Resistance:

(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NOTICE:

(e) Turn the power switch off.

(f) Connect the compressor with motor assembly connector.

8. CHECK COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect connector C28 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect connector C28 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

(b) Disconnect connector C26 from the compressor with motor assembly.

(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
