Removal





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

2. REMOVE NO. 1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH

HINT
Refer to the procedure up to Remove No. 1 Defroster Nozzle Garnish Removal.

3. DISCONNECT NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

(a) Check that the power switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Slide the slider to release the lock, and then disconnect the connector.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

4. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

CAUTION:
When storing the front passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

(a) Remove the 2 clamps to separate the instrument wire.





(b) Remove the 2 screws.





(c) Lean the instrument panel and disengage the 3 hooks and 2 pins.

(d) Disengage the 3 hooks to remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the upper instrument panel assembly.





6. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

(a) Disengage the clamp.





(b) Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the 2 airbag connector locks.

(c) Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors to remove the No. 3 instrument panel wire from the front passenger airbag assembly.

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
